WDFW's Samish Unit on the Samish Flats, known to birders as the West 90 for the sharp bend in Samish Island Road. Managed wetlands and forage fields on the edge of Padilla Bay draw wintering raptors, waterfowl and shorebirds.
Harriers, rough-legged hawks and falcons hunt the unit and surrounding fields all winter, most actively in the last hours of light.
