WDFW's Samish River Unit near Edison, named for the 90-degree bend in Bayview-Edison Road. Wintering short-eared owls hunt voles over its grass fields at dawn and dusk, which makes it one of the busiest and most sensitive viewing spots in the region.
Owls hunt most in the last hour or two before dark and at dawn, and through the day when it's gray.
