Whatcom County
A 54-acre county reserve south of Birch Bay, where a forest trail ends at a bluff and a long rocky beach on the Strait of Georgia. Good for sea ducks, loons and alcids offshore, eagles along the bluff, and sometimes harbor seals.
The beach faces west: mornings light birds on the water from behind you, and evenings give silhouettes against sunsets over the San Juan Islands.
